これまで、頸動脈エコーによる頸動脈肥厚と、無症候性冠動脈狭窄の関係はあまり分かっていなかった。

今回の研究では、冠動脈疾患の既往が無い2型糖尿病患者において、max-IMTが1.9mm以上の場合冠動脈に50%以上狭窄がある確率は49%、 1.9mm以下の場合50%以上の狭窄が無い確率は94%である事が明らかになった。
